Did you have to pay anything to get them to look at it, or indeed pay anything towards the replacement?

They picked it up and covered the costs, they then deducted one years 'use' out of what they deemed acceptable - a 6 year life, and offered the cash back.
This was all through currys who weren't too willing until they got a stroppy letter
