Tim, if you can get hold of anything from her employer and/or GP explaining the situation, then it will help.
I had to "register" my knee injury with them as it was an "industrial accident" and may have made me eligable for benefits. Needless to say, I'm not, but politeness and patience (look it up in a dictionary) go a long way with people who get shouted at a lot!
