Well its been one helluva day! Just settling down now!
Got home this afternoon and made sure my insurance was all sorted, I went with Express Insurance, £305, fully comp, breakdown, protected excess & pillion cover, which was not bad I thought. Then had to phone Hein Gericke as the Puma 800 boots I ordered were no good as they sent me a left size 8 and a right size 9! I shall be taking them back to the Hein Gericke store in Southampton tomorrow for a full refund. So I popped along to Infinity and checked theirs out again, and settled for a pair of Sidi Vertigos, which so far, Im really pleased with.
Then it was back home and on with the RST Rift leathers I had received on Monday and out on the SV!
First impression was "OMG how different the riding position was to anything I had been on before", but that was quickly replaced by "OMG how quick off the mark is it!!!!"
Took it for a blast through the New Forest out to Lymington, didnt go too far or push it too much as it was drizzling, and well... i'm only fresh out!
Took it round to a few family members homes to show them and everyone was really impressed with it. I also noticed that it certainly turns alot of heads when out riding.
Overall, I really started to enjoy the ride, obviously not as much as I could due to the rain, (it is going to be kept for fair weather riding!) but I've still got a long way to go. I think my gear changes on the SV will need a bit of refinement and I was amazed at the amount of engine braking that it gives. In total I covered about 60 miles today and certainly towards the end of the ride it was feeling alot smoother, (the gearbox seems very silky!) but I suppose thats all down to experience.
I am

for nicer weather tomorrow but I dont think it will be! I cannot wait to get back out again, as its all very new, even to the extent that I had never ridden in leathers before and that felt abit odd to start with. (Although the RST's seems to be fitting very nicely and feel pretty comfortable.
Well I'm going to retire for the night now, but as people have said, I have a grin that reaches ear to ear, and it shows no sign of disappearing soon!!
