Ah ha! The possibility of fresh blood!!!!
We were indeed over-run with applications - however - there weren't so many that actually came to training days (although there still were more than in any previous year!) and we got a nice chunk of new marshals who have stayed on!!

As for Donington...
Racesafe and MCRCB played no part whatsoever in the British MotoGP round this year... I can only imagine it has something to do with who owns MCRCB/MSVR and the circuit not wanting to pay them any money!!!

Marshalling does mean long days and it can be very hard work.
BUT it is very addictive and I have made lots of very close friends from across the country (makes Christmas parties interesting but expensive prospects!). As mentioned, you may get the best seats in the house but sometimes can't watch much of the racing.
The campsites and other facilities can be dire and the food can be somewhat less than appetising.
It's expensive (even more so this year with the price of diesel!) and you don't get much thanks for it most of the time, either!

HOWEVER!

I absolutely love it!
I cant think of many ways I'd rather spend my weekend!
I've spent one day 'the wrong side of the fence' this year (as a spectator) at Donington BSB and couldn't really cope with it - even with a scanner so I could hear the race channel!!
I enjoy my marshalling about as much as riding my bike!
I've told my Fiancee that there's two things I will not give up! - My bikes & my marshalling... She hates bikes!!

All in all - it's a very rewarding thing to do, you will make a lot of very good friends (it's a very intense (good) atmosphere and you're looking out for each other's lives!) and very probably enjoy yourself.

If you don't like it, there's no pressure to carry on! They don't even expect you to do one round if you feel you won't enjoy it!

There will be more training but not this year due to the amount of work the organisers (who are all volunteers too!) have to do this year!

Drop me a PM if you want any further info/inside info!
