As I said before, it only has to be knocked out of position by a very small amount for you to loose your good signal. It only has to be out a tiny bit more to loose all signal.

There are two things you can do. The first is to give it little tweaks whilst someone else is watching the TV. Yup the old fashioned way. I believe sky box's have a signal strength meter display somewhere in the setup. (It's been a number of years since I qualified and not used those particular skills so could be wrong about that bit) OR you can call in an 'expert' who will more than likely plug in a spectrum analyser. It's basically an posh signal strength meter, he will the 'dial in' (up a bit, right a bit) the dish for the best signal.

Personally, I'd go down the old fashioned route. Well it's a damn site cheaper.

Either way, when you have got it set back up and the dish is in the optimum position, go out and mark all the 'moving' parts with tip-ex or some such thing similar. At least then, should it happen again, you'll be able to see at a glance if your dish needs re-adjusting or if the issue is something else.

The cable can breakdown too. Moisture getting in from the dish receiver is the usual suspect.
