I am sad to hear that it is for sale, but then again after all of the years Eric has been running that place, I am sure that he deserves a happy retirement so he can give more time to his hobbies, base jumping and climbing!
I think he was the first Brit to solo climb (no rope or partner for those who don't know) the North Face of the Eiger in Winter. In his day, he was a bit of a loon.
My best lead was E2 and I also got stuck climbing the Fang opposite the Cafe and had to retreat, losing a load of gear, when my second freaked at the exposure. Damn hard climbing at Tremadog, beautiful though.
Thanks for a really nicely written report on day trip though, sounds like you had such a lot of fun. Not really jealous down here in Somerset...
