Re: Beat the credit crunch
Whats the car equivelant of an SV? Something like a 2.0L semi sporty Focus or something?
5 years on an SV @ 10,000 miles pa
Fuel = (50k x 10p) £5000
Tax = (5x£65) £325
Tyres = (8 rears x £100 + 4 fronts x 75) £1100
Servicing = (14 x £150) £2100
Depreciation (£4500 - £1200?) £3300
Total = £11825 / 5 = £2365 pa
5 years in a ? 2.0L ish hatch @ 10,000 miles pa
Fuel = (50k x 15p) £7500
Tax = (5x£200) £1000
Servicing = (5 x £250) £1250
Depreciation (£15000 - £8000?) £7000
Tyres = (4 x £200) £800
Total = £17550 / 5 = £3510 pa.
£3510 - £2365 = £1145 x 40 years of commuting = £46k more expensive over your lifetime of commuting in a car.
Depreciation is the main cost of a car, so it would be hugely different depending on what car you would commute in.
*Excluding repairs, mot's, insurance etc as assumed equal.
A bit fag packet but it amused me for a moment.
