Running is good, I will do a minimum of two miles a day, it will help get rid of any "love handles" which sit-ups won't. Try basic sit-ups and push-ups and then progress on to elevated sit-ups and push-ups. A session with some weights is good too, laying on a bench with your arms out and bringing them up to your chest is very good.
Most importantly, eat right.
