My other half said similar. Now the eldest keeps talking about getting his own gear & coming on rideouts with me (9 years old), the middle one (8 years old) isn't too fussed either way, and the youngest (4 years old) climbs on the bike any chance he can get. The youngest also threw a strop when I refused to take him faster than 30mph (wearing borrowed kit)!!
The kids will grow up around bikes, and it'll be natural to them, your other half won't have much say in it.
