Not all insurance companies require to see a copy of the certificate, the certificate is really proof that the bike was at some point restricted and that whilst in your ownership (your name is on the certificate) you have had it de-restricted.

+ 1, it will leave your insurance invalid from the start. Not only riding with no licence but now no insurance, what ever you do don't bend down to pick up the soap!
