The only real point in the circuit that both sides share is the switch, from memory (I'll dig out the diagram in a sec).

Sounds like a faulty indicator switch to me.

EDIT: Yup, indicator switch & hazard switch are the only places that current could come from & power the indicators. You're looking at the green wire from either switch.
