There are loads of similar but cheaper portable 12V TV devices around now. I haven't looked into it recently but I bet some will do slideshows from some sort of memory device, and will give you a lot more besides, for not a whole lot more than a simple picture frame.

FWIW my parents were given a (very cheap I suspect, unknown brand with un-intelligible instructions) picture frame, which simply upped and died last weekend as we were viewing some pics. |
