Hi mate, I bought the JHS fairings too for my first year. They are dammed good and very sturdy. Yeah you do have to cut holes for the R&G's and I had the same problem as you with the downpipe, but nothing a dremmel didnt sort. I'll see if I can find some pictures for you. Although I did still have to wrap the downpipes as although they werent touching the fairings, they were close and did scortch a little.
