At least there's a couple sensible posts in this thread where what you might get an idea of what you get for your money. The oil change may be the only thing of substance that the service entails, but as stated in G's post there is much more that should be done and is worthwhile, particularly if you're not too handy with the spanners yourself, as you may not even know it needs doing.

My 50k p/a rent/rates/insurance/wages/paye/etc etc dont get given to me for free.

So when a dealer charges a price for a service such as £120-£150 dependant on area for a 4k service they are far from taking the **** thank you.

Would you work for free

Luckily i actually make more money from people that bring in bikes having totally mucked up their home servicing and or putting right bikes that after 20k or so havent ever been serviced properly!. Things range from cracked sumps / rusted in plugs as they have never been changed / snapped off caliper mount bolts / throttle bodies that have never been balanced etc etc.

If you know what your doing fine..save some money.
Very good posts above

Over the years, I've only over used Dealers/friend/friend of a friend for valve checks/adjustment but always find a lot of usual 'Stealer threads/talk' quite amusing.

Ask anyonewho is employed if they are payed enough and the answer would more than likely be 'Not enough'. YET, everyone expects a dealer to hold in stock all spares for every bike they sell, charge the same as the man who works from a Tree Shade garage, yada yada yada......

xXBADGERXx ...kinda trying to understand the why/how here and nothing else... you said, the dealer quoted £125 but if I've read your previous post correctly(don't hold me to that), you spent £55 on the bits to do the job(?).

That leaves us with £70 for labour. I can't see how anyone can call that extracting the Urine...if we are to agree that the time spent, would be about two hours
