Each spec camera cost £50k
Last time I was involved in a highways scheme were specs were installed during the work there was 16 cameras and it cost in total about the same price as above so £400k installation cost......thats for somewhere not set up for this kind of service like the C&F so completely new ducting and cable network.
so 16 cameras on an 8k stretch of road......1 camera per km in each direction.......the whole stretch of road will be monitored in both directions at that cost.
From the October 2008 any specs camera ordered had the capability to catch rear plates as well.
They dont have permission yet though, and I cant to the country folk being to happy about massice poles with yellow cameras on them ruining the lovely view.
