Default Road sliding

I had a go at this sport yesterday, courtesy of some twit who pulled out on me. Headlights on and loud cans don't disqualify you, apparently.

I somehow managed to avoid his car but decked the bike in the process. Anyone got any tips on heavy braking and swerving on damp roads whilst staying upright? I'd just dropped off my gfs son at school 50 yards up the road. Thank God he wasn't still on the back. A passer-by called the police so they attended the scene, and I've got a witness who saw everything. Hopefully I can claim everything back off the numpty driver's insurance.

The bike has a snapped brake pedal and scuffs on the usual areas down one side. Seems to have come off quite lightly. I reckon my kit is more damaged, with the jacket and trousers and boots having abrasion tears and scuffs and I'm annoyed cos I only bought it in November. I'm somewhat bruised down my right hip and leg.

I've fallen off at low speeds before but its quite scary how hard you hit the ground when you lock up the front wheel whilst trying to swerve.

Just thought I'd share.
