I really wish I hadn't read that! But I'm afraid it happens far too much and not just to dogs but all kinds of animals. We always had a family dog and that's what I've missed since leaving home. Unfortunately my work and lifestyle mean it would not be fair for me to have a dog at the moment, I would not be able to spend the time with it that it would deserve. But oneday I will have a dog and it will more than likely come from a rescue centre.
