Another vote for Forcefield. Brilliant kit.

Go for L2 protection level (they do L1 spec too, but this is lower level).

Note that they do upgrade "inserts" to fit in jackets and trousers too, back protectors come in 3 shapes according to the shape of the pocket in the jacket, also do shoulder/elbow/knee/hip inserts.

The back inserts are a lot cheaper than the strap-ons (ooer) if cost is an issue. I have to say that the insert in the jacket is a lot more convenient when I'm touring on holiday, and because there's an air gap it isn't as hot in summer, although ultimately it almost certainly doesn't offer quite the same protection. Some compromises I accept. The strap-on can get too hot I find (30+C continental riding)
