+1. I'd be prepared to consider the possibility of one or the other being innocent, but the combination of a picture that
appears to show a clean, well painted cowl (even it is from a distance) AND a description that neglects to mention cracked, flaking paint appears to be an intentional attempt to mislead buyers as to the condition.
As to his response, the final price has no bearing on the condition of the item; if it had gone for £100, it's not like the quality would magically of improved, that's just the nature of an auction. The only time I'd consider this to have any creedance is if the listing had been a buy it now, priced £10-20 and the description had said something along the lines of, "the condition of the item is less than perfect and the low 'buy it now' is representative of this."
