Very few people have said (that I've heard) that they saw the accident happen.
The statement from the rider to the officer that stopped was that he had overtaken just before the bend. From the quick look I had at the scene, it appears it's lowsided for some reason pretty early in the bend.
The rider also said that he hadn't had his licence long. The bend, as you can kind of see from the picture, goes uphill on the entry, but downhill on the exit. It
could be inexperience that contributed, but that's purely speculation as I don't know the lad at all.
IMO, he was very lucky on several points. There was nothing coming the other way (head on at that speed would of been horrific, and there would of been no-where for other traffic to go due to the number of bikes passing that point). His phone appears to of saved his ribs, and he was actually stood up a few seconds after he came off, despite looking a little muddy.
