Last time I tried the screwdriver trick on a car filter, it gradually tore throught the whole thing as I levered it around and I'm bu66ered if I'm doing that again!

Strap wrench the best thing, then?

Oh, and Hein Gericke 10W40 semi synth at £13.99 seems a good deal to me.
