TBH, it depends on what you want to achieve really? Are you looking at a long-term prospect or just gaining some experience? If I was your age, I would go with the bike shop but thats coz I would look at it as a fun experience. Whether there are any long-term prospects in it I don't know. You also need to consider what training prospects are available with each as training can become very expensive.
The next question is where you want to be in the next year, 5yrs, and then even 10 yrs. The advantage you have is your age. Whatever choice you make, is yours to make.
