The pistons are probably sticking a bit in the callipers. Take the pads out again and pump the pistons out. I put a piece of thin wood or metal that just fits in the slot the discs runs through and pump the lever until the pistons touch it (stops you pumping the pistons out completely-brake fluid everywhere!). Clean the pistons with wire wool or a scouring pad (a bit fiddly). Lube the pistons with Castrol red rubber grease or silicon rubber grease and force them back in (use large flat blade screwdriver or similar, but protect the piston faces with something (thick cardboard perhaps). Sometimes repeating the lubricating and forcing back in several times will help. Hopefully this will avoid a full calliper rebuild.
