The best way of making more power from an engine is to increase the capacity and as Suzuki already make a similar engine with nearly 1000ccs why not simply use that and at the same time leave it wrapped up in the 'similar to 650' style frame?

Seriously though, I think for most people power is not what the SV is about, it does the job it's built for admirably well and has lots (relatively) of grunt. Start trying to make more power and you will and up with a higher narrower peak and loose the basic advantage of the SV.
