Paint touch up guides
Hi folks!
Not sure if this is the place for this, but can anyone point me in the direction of a good guide to car/bike minor scratch repair.
One of my scratches is on the frame, and is through to the metal. The other is a lighter scratch on one of the plastic panels.
I appreciate preperation is the key, but I feel I have that covered. I'm more interested in the actual application of primer, (where needed), paint, and lacquer.
That said, most of the preperation stuff I've read talks about 2000 grit sandpaper, which I don't fancy. Is this really neccessary for a half decent repair?
So far I have the following tips:-
Use a small artists brush, not the touch up pen brush.
Use as little paint as possible, and build up the coats.
(Is it a good idea to polish out any excess paint at this time with T-cut or the like?)
Apply the lacquer, overlapping the painted areas.
What now? T-cut? Sand it down flush?
Keep in mind that this is for a couple if very minor scratches, and the last thing I want is to end up having to get a panel resprayed due to a botched repair!
Thanks in advance for your replies!
