no you dont have to machine the stem, just make sure you push the stem downwards through the yoke not the otherway round, i didnt know about the lip and thats what i did and broke it
you will have to give your yokes to someone with a press you wont be able to do it by hand, then make up a sleave for the top yoke to fit the stem
