Remember, I know where you live...
Ah well I suppose I'd better tell all cos I'm getting PM's and texts about this - here's the email I sent Stretchie...

Last Friday I was setting up one of the test panels in the office to train a couple of the guys on some stuff, and I managed to short the battery leads (mistake #1 - fumsy clucker!), oops… At this point common sense went out of the window as I grabbed hold of the now red-hot battery & wires (mistake #2 – burnt fingers), threw it to the floor and stamped on it to put the resulting fire out & prevent it setting fire to the rest of the panel & the office. A couple of minutes passed and Martin remarked that perhaps we should be concerned that the fire alarm had not reacted to the fairly large cloud of smoke that the above events had just created, to which I reply “Yeah true, but I’m actually kind of glad cos it means I might get away with this” (mistake #3 – believing I could EVER be that ****ing lucky). Sure enough, right on cue…
End result: the whole of the building is evacuated in the freezing snow for approx an hour, and not one but two fire engines are called to the building (this bit I do actually feel guilty about).

So there you have it, I'm a tool of the highest order!
I would also be out of a job at this point were it not for one of my colleagues who stuck up for me with my boss by reminding him that he'd made a similar mistake earlier in his career. Oh how I love my job...
