Change the fuel and clean the carbs properly, change the plugs while you're at it although if both cylinders are firing they aren't U/S, It often sweetens things up. Also look at the ends of the plugs for clues as to how the engine's running (normal, the firing end should be light brown, grey or tan coloured with a few combustion deposits - Haynes). Anything else indicates a problem. There should be a proprietary solvent/cleaner for carburettors, only thing that springs to my mind is Holts Fuel system cleaner. Someone will, no doubt, enlighten us !
