Is it a curvy or pointy m8, and when you say left side you are meaning the side with the gear level and not the rear brake yer? (reason I ask is that if it's a curvy they normally leak from the right, rear brake side and the oil can sometimes roll down the underside of the engine and make it look like it's coming from the other side.)

did you snap the bolt putting it in or taking it out? did it snap inside the cover or is there a stub sticking out? (if there is have you tried piers or moll grips to get it out?)

Easiest thing to do to find an oil leak (bit late now) is to clean everything and cover the area in talc, they so up nice and easy then after an hour or two.
