Around london, I try and keep the rpm's around 5000 rpm, so the bike remains somewhat responsive to throttle input

If I'm pootling though, keep the revs down. I find my SV engine will happily pull from 2000 rpm when in 2nd gear (but I donlt give it a handlfull, just tickle until the revs have got up a bit)
