Well if its any use, I rode around for a year on the 125 before going in for the DAS training. IMO it'll be worth you waiting and taking your time before doing the same.

Nowt wrong with doing summer on a 125, I passed my CBT in the August, and the following year to the day passed the DAS, was a bit weird that one..lol.
