Default Re: White smoke, Oil, Power Loss. Help

I started it up this morning. I have blue thin exhaust at idle, and then when i twist the throttle, it turns to thick white smoke -- and I can definitely smell the coolant. Im hoping and guessing that its a head gasket. And it just blew in a way that both oil and coolant are leaking into the chamber and burning. Thats why i cant see a mixture within the oil window. Im going to do an oil change today to see if any coolant made it down to the crankcase.

Any thoughts?

Regarding tearing the motor down - Do you need to replace the Cylinder studs? I've heard that they expand and may need to be replace. Just curious on your thoughts...

I am not trying to be derogitory but you are checking the levels with the bike in the upright position and not when on the side stand. If you have recently topped up your oil is it possible you have overfilled it? are all the breather pipes clear i.e. not blocked internally, thereby increasing crankcase compression.

I am presuming the engine turned over without resistance with the plugs removed when doing the compression test
No worries - I did an oil change about a month ago and have been riding with no problems. And i've been checking with the bike at level. Not on the side stand.

Thanks again.
Jason.
