The policy is renewed every year, as is the contract you enter - if something material to the policy has changed it's up to you to tell them when you renew, as they simply assume nothing has changed when they offer you a renewal quote. It sounds like you've told them but it doesn't sound right to me
Hope it all gets sorted mate, definitely phone them and if they are happy to provide cover definitely get it in writing
