Sat here watching the news and I notice my sensor light go off by the garage. Head outside and scare off a couple of chav teens (guy and a young lady with no sense) who were up the side of my garage. Pretty sure they weren't up to any serious mischief aside from the obvious, but having had 2 bikes stolen I'm a bit sensitive about people prowling around my property.
Anyhow they take off (the girl bolted -she must have been mortified - I think she was pulling up her knickers as she ran), but 5 mins later I hear them lurking around on the street at the front of the property. Not keen to put my legal-backside on the line by escalating the situation, I ring the police and tell them I've scared off a couple of prowlers and they've returned and are hanging around out front.
To the credit of the police they turned up in about 5 minutes. Bizarrely the conversation went like this:
Chavs (as the police pull up): Aww ****, we thought you were the same cops who stopped us earlier!
Police: No, but we had a report that someone matching your description was seen prowling around the back of this property. Was it you?
Chavs: No
Police: OK then. (drive off)
What the heck is that? Granted I'm not expecting a take down, shake down or any other kind of down, but would it not occur for them to ask why they're loitering around the front of someone's house at 3am? Perhaps suggest that they move along and head home?
