I bought a 99 curvey S earlier in the year with 23K on it. It's in great condition for it's age and has been heavily modded to a naked. The prices quoted here seem reasonable for a private sale. Dealers will want a bit more. Fuel consumption is a bit low IMO at 40mpg around town, although you will get more on a good run though.

Read the threads about what mods are recommended as you should ideally make a few to a standard bike.
