very simple, the socket is literally just a 12v socket you would find in a car....but with a postitive and a negative lead coming from it, which you then connect to the battery.

Under the rear seat should be resonably waterproof anyway, but i had the cables coming from the charger under the seat into my tank bag for the phone and the sat nav was mounted on the tank so i just tracked the wire round the bottom of the tank to it.
