It definitely sounds like carb icing. I get it on my curvy when it gets down to about 8 degrees. One thread on the site stated that the carbs have heaters on the UK models so it may be that the sensor is not working.

I try to help the engine keeping warm so that the air around the engine warms from radiated heat. I simply blank over some of the radiator. This helps a little but does not get rid of the problem.
