If you've got those, you've got the best ones mate. I'm sure they're your DJing cans, but I produce using them too, without a problem. I wouldn't say the bass is slack; it's just not artificially boosted the way it is with some headphones. Only thing they don't work well on are cheaper devices, where every imperfection of the low end A/D converters are shown up by their accurate reproduction.
When you say bulky, are you complaining about their portability, or bulkiness when they're on your head? I've never found them big compared to most overhead cans in either respect...
