You can say as much as you like about windows but critical back end system, banks etc all use unix, If you had 15 years supporting unix system I may be more inclined to listen to you

Webpage: Notepad IS all you need, ok so I would install VIM for Windows to be honest.
PDF: At the rate that Adobe changes Acrobat Reader I bet the OSX user will be downloading a new version out of the box anyway. Also all the laptops I have had to commission for work lately have come with Reader pre-installed.
Oh and yes I have ben using Unix/Linux for about that long.
The other thing to consider is that Microsoft are stopped from shipping better than basic versions of software that they make due to anti-trust cases.
