Early indications appear to be no. Particularly if your idea of adventure entails anything other than tarmac and firm gravel roads. Even the XC version is reportedly considerably less capable offroad than the F800GS (which is the bike Triumph are directly competing against). Still, most 1200GSes have never been off the 'pavement' , so may not be a problem for many users.
Personally, I really want the Japanese to start to do a proper medium capacity adventure bike in the vein of the Africa Twin again. I don't like the KLR much and the New Super Tenere is a bit too GS1200 for my liking. I want something in between and at the moment, that means a BMW (overpriced, unreliable, but incredible when it works).
