Re: A few of my favourite sounds
Mazda 787/767 at Le Mans in '91, what a sound! A screaming, howling, wailing wall of noise on the throttle, and near silent on the over-run - fantastic.
RG500 hard on the gas, each fire is a pin sharp 'ping' that makes an orchestral symphomy of crackles - emotive noise.
BRM V16: So, so much better than the sound of modern GP cars.
Panoz: Gutteral, organ shaking burble - complete antithesis of the Mazda.
RR Merlin: Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. And it's British by George! Only thing better than that is to hear four at once. At about 200 feet.
Regis Laconi's RS3 Cube.
DKW split single: The final definition of loud.
Napier Sabre: Painful, wonderful.
Deltic: Flat, but lovely, big power!
Any Funny/Top Fueler: Ground shakes, ears hurt, everything rattles. An all over visceral experience.
So many more, I barely knew where to start.
