That's the one thing with Ibz- you need to have the guitar quite high up to really get the most from the fretboard. I think the wide, flat fretboard does that too- it is more like a classical guitar than the usual Strat/Les Paul.

The neck on the RG1527 is more chunky- it actually feels a little like my bass- I prefer it to the neck on my RG550 already.

I always hear great things about Jacksons and Charvels- they've just never called out to me for some reason.
