Wifey and I drove it in the other direction - took us about three nights and we weren't rushing - stopping in Travelodge type motels. They tended to have semi-secure parking so the bike should be as safe as a car would be. It is a beautiful stretch of road and there is a hilarious "English" theme pub in Monterey called the Mucky Duck, which was even holding a quiz night when we were there!
+1 to all of that. I'm heading out there mid july with the gf for 3 weeks, cannot feckin wait I wanted to hire a Harley for getting about on but the distances you're talking are huge and 2bh the roads aren't upto much anyway. A nice hire car with air con and cruise control will be more like it!

But if you want to hire a Harley while you're over there (Fatboy all the way for me) then you've got near Malibu the Snake/Mulholland Highway and loads of winding mountain roads to explore. Thats what we'll be doing once we've seen all the bullsh!t that LA and Hollywood has to offer.

Oh and if you're planning on going soon, July 24th Laguna Seca Moto GP.....maybe see you there

Is it July yet?
