Its an interesting debate this one. Do you
1. Just buy something else when you feel the SV is lacking
2. Spend cash on the SV
For me I was bored of the SV and I wanted something else. The other thing I had to factor in was that money I would have spent on the SV ( suspension upgrades etc ) was money I could just put towards the GSXR I eventually bought.
I really think theres no right answer and its purely down to personal choice. I personally dont think you'd ever make the SV I had as good to ride as the GSXR I have now is. Even if you threw money at it. It wouldnt feel the same and thats down the characteristics of the engine as well as the chassis. I love the IL4 feel.
The other option if wanting to keep a small capacity V twin that has plenty of poke, bling bits and handling to boot is the 749S that keeps the GSXR company in our garage. But I know that Ducati's reputation puts alot of people off going down this route, but its not been as expensive in our case as I thought it woudl be...
