Your name on the registration document means nothing more than you are the DVLA's point of contact for dealings with the vehicle. It says only who the keeper is.

The DVLA's own words: 'The registered keeper is not necessarily the legal owner'

Clearly it's in your interests to have the documents in order, but ultimately the registration document proves nothing - a receipt for the purchase is better proof of ownership
