for me off road rewarding is nothing a gs can do, weight is the killer, if I was serious about off roading in scotland I'd suffer a good of road bike getting up there, if (as most do) I would take a good road bike (if the knee allowed it's be an S3.
I've tried grass tracking, pre-65 trials and enduro as well as what used to be scrambling, those are off road to me, a bit of gravel and the odd pot hole I can manage on a road bike without difficulty.
