Hi Guys.
I bought a bike yesterday from a fellow member, and drove it back to London from Brighton in the heavy rain. On the motorway I soon started to notice that the engine was getting unstable, and when I got to a roundabout the engine cut out as I hit 3000 rpm. Later as I made it on to smaller roads and the rain died down a little, the engine was running fine again, and idling wasn't a problem.
As I parked the bike in my garage and came back 20 mins later, and started it up again, it started fine, idling perfectly, but when i reved it up to 4-5000 just to hear the sound of the can ( :

) i noticed the exhaust smoke got black, as it idled the color was clear again.
My question is now, was this a case of wet spark plugs and a build up of carbon in the system?
Is there a good way to prevent the sparkplugs from getting wet in heavy rain, or is it just to be expected?
Cheers
