If you broke a chain then a damaged rod is likely, the external part of the rod simply pulls out of the seal in the cases, remove it and examine it carefully - it's bent or otherwise damaged the clutch probably won't work properly, if it isn't obviously damaged refit it and adjust the clutch, if it works OK it is OK.
