Regards tyres, its not the cold really that I'm worried about, more the surface conditions should they be wet (And I mean peeing it down not just dampness).
Leathers are two fold, one is protection, the ones I used before aren't very well armoured. Two, they fitted quite well apart from the hips and knees making weight control limited ....
Having only ridden any bike for the first time in April 2012 and passing Mod 2 mid August I think I deserve some slack in learning how a bike really works.

As I said it was not a critique. Your mention of tyres referred to cold, so my response was based on that. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention to the vid but the track didn't look wet and, like you no doubt, I would hope that April is dryer than friggin March has been.
Leathers, again all sensible reasons but you mentioned knee down hence my opinion. The first thing I did after my first track day was get leathers, much for the same reasons so good buy.
As for the video, you should watch my track video on youtube. I arrived on my bike to see a paddock with tents, generators and tyre warmers. I blinked and thought I was in Moto GP for a minute! Needless to say my video consisted of me getting passed by everyone. But its still amazing how
slow everything looks in the video, when it feels so much faster on track.
It was no criticism of your riding, just an observation of what most in your position will have gone through. You will indeed come to see that even an SV650 has enough to teach you before you will reach all its limits.
Enjoy the ride dude.
