OK, which idiot at Suzuki thought that it would be a good idea to put a heat shield on the exhaust under the engine, welding the brackets onto the exhaust pipe but making them out of the cheapest metal they could find?
My bike has developed a rattle, when I examined it I found that the heat shield mount had snapped off. The nut and bolt that hold it onto the pipe are so rotted that even with the wife's top quality Snap-On Allen key, the bolt head turned to dust. The whole piece is scrap and the plate vibrates, meaning that I need to get in there with a grinder to cut the damn thing off.
Will I damage anything once it is removed, I imagine that it is there for a reason and removing it could have an adverse effect somewhere? The wife says just chop it off and I am probably going to do this.
